Modern Luxury Scottsdale – Style Watch interview

Modern Luxury Scottsdale is a beautiful magazine focused on all things luxury, sophistication, and stylish in Scottsdale!  Shopping, playing, eating, and the Scottsdale scene…I love it!  I am super excited about this interview in the Style Watch column in the September 2016 issue of the Scottsdale edition, page 52.

I spoke with author Masada Siegel in July.  We discussed my inspiration as a designer, my design aesthetic, my core tenets of sustainability, use of natural fibers (cottons, silks, etc.), and my commitment to local, domestic production of my garments.

This photo was taken in the lobby of MOXY Phoenix Tempe. The MOXY line is part of Marriott, and is a fun blend of boutique hotel with the social activity of a hostel.  The drive from Tucson to Tempe was a typical July-in-the-desert HOT but I was welcomed to the MOXY with refreshments and great service.

I was in town for a Phoenix Fashion Week photo shoot: I am a Finalist in the Phoenix Fashion Week competition for Emerging Designer of the Year. The event takes place at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale on October 14th. Tickets are still available here.

In this picture, I’m wearing my silk scoop neck top: the print is my red lotus – an image I found on part of a Thai wood panel that had been carved and painted – and is digitally printed on the silk fabric. The digital printing process is much more sustainable than older screen technologies since it uses very little energy and very  little water. The dyes are amazing, and the prints are always perfectly clear.

I’m a fan of Modern Luxury and Scottsdale!
