This new configuration of a two weekend Open Studio Tour is a lovely a new paradigm. Since I participate in the Open Studio, I never get to go to other artists’ studios. This year I was able to! The first weekend, Sept 30 and Oct 1, was the “North of River Road” tour. Next weekend, Oct 7-8, is the “South of River Road” tour, in which my studio participates.
If you are curious about the process of creating digital images for fabric, and then making cool clothing with that fabric, you definitely must stop in! BTW, if you haven’t seen any of my new work, you very definitely must stop in!
My studio is located at 410 N Toole Ave, in the Historic Train Depot Building. Stop by during Open Studio Tour Hours: 10 am – 5 pm. Free parking right in front!
Yesterday I took my husband and my father-in-law for a lovely outing beginning with the SAAG gallery at Casas Adobes Plaza. The best part for me was connecting with a few of my favorite artisans (Susan Allen and Judith Fragomeni), and meeting one or two new ones. Yay!
Next was the Jane Hamilton Fine Art gallery, again showing quite a few artists, with one demonstrating her painting technique! How cool is that?! And Jane was quite lovely, giving us a tour and telling us about the various artists, their specialties, and their quirks.
We finished the tour at an artist’s home studio, where she (Karen Hymer), and another artist (Ernesto Esquer), were displaying their work, as well as demonstrating how they do what they do. Both are photographers as well as painters, so the melding of the two media was quite fascinating!
See you on the weekend!
